Prior to joining SMPS Legal, María Teresa Paillés was managing partner of RomoPaillés for 20 years. Before that, she was an associate attorney at an international law firm, where she worked in the Mexico and New York offices. Earlier in her career, she served as director of international legal affairs for a real estate company focused on the hotel and vacation club industry.
María Teresa has more than 30 years of experience practicing as a lawyer and advising her clients on high-level operations, both nationally and internationally. She has specialized in advising her clients on real estate operations and projects, mergers and acquisitions (Mergers & Acquisitions), financial and credit operations, public and state tenders, AAP projects and general corporate law.
María Teresa has advised real estate developers, in the implementation, design, and documentation of real estate projects for housing (of social, medium and residential interest), shopping centers, retail, distribution centers, offices, hotels, timeshares and fractional, located throughout Mexico, including the audit and regularization of federal and ejido land, as well as administrative and permitting aspects, licenses, authorizations of all kinds, including issues of environmental impact manifestations, concessions and restrictions, and rights of way.
He has extensive experience in the development and implementation of M&A operations, investment schemes for institutional and strategic investors, and in the establishment of alliances, particularly in real estate and hotel industry operations, and in manufacturing and service delivery companies and developers and infrastructure operators.
In the financial area, María Teresa has participated as a lawyer for creditors and debtors, in the structure, negotiation and formalization of loans with and without guarantees, syndicated loans, financing of infrastructure projects, guarantees and other accessory contracts.
