Ulrike has been admitted to the bar in 1999 (Cologne). She studied law at the universities of Bielefeld, Geneva and Cologne. Ulrike graduated and passed her PhD in Cologne. In 2004 she complemented her studies by an LL.M. degree in insurance law at the University of Munster. She joined gbf attorneys-of-law as a partner in 2011.

During her over 15 years of work experience as a lawyer in private practice (boutique firms and international law firms) she has gained substantial experience in insurance related matters and considerable experience in other financial services-related affairs. Ulrike’s main focus is on reinsurance, life insurance, D&O, other financial lines and on regulatory issues. She also practises most other areas of law affecting the insurance industry, i.e. unfair competition, data-protection and compliance.

Ulrike advises (re-)insurance companies, brokers and financial institutions inter alia on

• Conduct of transnational “cross border“ insurance business in Europe
• Establishment of insurance companies and branch offices
• International insurance programs
• Alternative Risk Transfer (ART)
• Insurance and reinsurance law in general
• Litigation and arbitration, mainly in financial lines and reinsurance cases (coverage and liability disputes)
• Portfolio transfers and run-off
• Distribution of insurance and other financial products.
