Funke has extensive experience in Admiralty law, Shipping & Marine Insurance Law & Litigation, Shipping Registration, Cabotage Registration & Compliance, Ship Finance & Securitisation and International Trade Law & Commercial Arbitration.

She has represented clients on a broad range of commercial transactions before trial and appellate courts all over Nigeria. In addition, Funke is a seasoned maritime arbitrator and has represented the firm in numerous international arbitration cases. Her active participation in the development and formulation of policy in the Nigerian maritime industry has contributed to her acknowledgement as an authority in the industry.

Having graduated from the University of Lagos and subsequently obtaining an LLM from the University College London, Funke was admitted to the Nigerian Bar in 1982. Funke is a member of the following organisations:

• The Nigerian Bar Association;

• The International Bar Association;

• General Editor, Nigerian Journal of Maritime Law;

• Council Member of the Maritime Arbitrators Association of Nigeria

• Member and Secretary, Nigerian Maritime Law Association (Affiliate of the Comite Maritime International);

• Past President, Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association (WISTA)

• CEDR Mediator and an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitration.
Funke is recognised by various reputable international legal directories such as:

• Ranked as an elite ‘Leading Individual’ in Shipping & Transport- The Legal 500, 2015;

• Ranked in Band 2 as a leading lawyer in Dispute Resolution- Chambers Global Guide, 2015

Funke is described as “a respected maritime lawyer and a key member of the firm’s Dispute Resolution practice” and also recognised for her “deep expertise in shipping and maritime disputes”- Chambers Global Guide 2014 and 2015 respectively.

ACAS-LAW was established in April 1991 as a partnership by its two founding partners, Sola Adepetun and Afolabi Caxton-Martins, under the name “Adepetun & Caxton-Martins”, to provide professional legal services as a corporate and commercial law firm.

Following the admissions of Funke Agbor and Felicia Kemi Segun into the partnership in 1993 and 2000 respectively, the name of the firm was changed to “Adepetun Caxton-Martins & Agbor” in 1993 and “Adepetun Caxton-Martins Agbor & Segun” in 2004.

In 2007, Taiwo Afonja and Ben Unaegbunam were admitted as partners. Chisa Uba and Donna Obaseki-Ogunnaike were admitted into the partnership in January 2015 and, most recently, Fred Ntido in August 2017.
