Dr Hellen Schilling

Hellen acts as counsel for both individuals and corporates in the field of white-collar crime and regulatory enforcement, including advice on compliance and prevention. Key topics of her practice are corruption, tax offences, embezzlement. She acts as defense counsel in trials throughout Germany as well as in appeal proceedings before the Federal Court of Justice.
She is also well experienced in advising and representing witnesses and regularly acts as counsel in the process of filing criminal complaints on behalf of both individuals and companies, including advice on asset recovery. Further, she has acted as counsel in third party interventions before the European Court of Human Rights.
Hellen profits from her vast practical experience which she gained not least from having been involved in the most significant German white-collar proceedings of recent years (e.g. Babcock, Siemens, Deutsche Bank/Kirch, Cum/Ex, Diesel, Wirecard). She sensitively guides individuals in management positions as well as companies through the challenges of criminal proceedings, including dealing with media attention.
Hellen instructs other lawyers on criminal law at Deutsche AnwaltAkademie, a training institute of the German Bar Association. She regularly speaks at legal conferences and has published numerous articles on criminal law topics. She is a permanent staff member of the law journal HRRS (www.hrrs.de) and a member of the supervisory board of the journal for white-collar crime and corporate liability ZWH (Zeitschrift für Wirtschaftsstrafrecht).
Hellen is recommended and highly rated in legal research publications on a regular basis.
