Nancy Cooper brings a unique insight to the practice of labor and employment law as a result of starting and owning multiple businesses of her own. Nancy has a former business owner’s experience and insight to the employment issues facing companies. Her counsel includes best practices and practical advice on minimizing employment related risks and liabilities, crafting and negotiating executive compensation packages, contracts, noncompetition and confidentiality agreements, as well as guidance on dealing with personnel management issues including protected leaves.

Nancy offers trainings and advice in the areas of wage and hour, discrimination, discipline, investigations and harassment complaints, as well as labor negotiations, labor arbitrations, and the negotiation and interpretation of collective bargaining agreements. She helps employers with management of strategic employment decisions, labor advice and union prevention, trainings and general employer relations. In addition, she works with companies holding government contracts as they navigate the specialized rules of the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP).

Prior to joining GSB, Nancy Cooper was a partner at two other Portland area law firms as well as owning a retail business. Nancy is a frequent lecturer and author for many industry organizations and trade publications.

Judy Endejan’s practice focuses on wireless and wireline telecommunications providers, internet service providers, M2M providers, broadcast stations, publishers of books, newspapers and periodicals, public utilities, software and hardware providers, and arts and entertainment entities. The common thread is a relationship to content creation , communication and distribution. Her background is a unique blend of private practice and in-house experience. Judy spent ten years with GTE Corporation (now Verizon) , acquiring substantial experience in public utility regulation and administrative law. During 2006, Judy served as General Counsel for Fisher Communications, Inc., a major Northwest broadcast corporation.

Judy has represented a wide range of clients with cases under the First Amendment, the Federal Communications Act, intellectual property laws and the regulatory laws of California, Washington and Oregon. They include established, and new telecommunications providers that offer landline, wireless, VoIP and M2M services. Also, new and old forms of content providers, from broadcasters, publishers and newspapers to web-site owners and bloggers. Judy’s practice has run the gamut from pre-publication review to clearance and licensing issues to negotiation of sophisticated communications and technology contracts, advising on the legal and business issues facing clients in the ever-changing convergence of telecommunication, media and technology.

A former professional journalist herself, Judy Endejan has made a major mark on the state of Free Speech and Free Press law. Among her accomplishments, Judy obtained a landmark ruling that the academic speech of a university professor is protected by the First Amendment; forced the release of key public records regarding defects with the construction of the new floating bridge over Lake Washington; and won summary judgment for a broadcaster sued for remarks made by callers to a radio talk show, later affirmed by the Washington Court of Appeals.

Judy is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin and UW Law School, and has contributed chapters to the original and second edition of the “Public Records Act Deskbook” published by the Washington State Bar Association. She is listed as an expert in the Women’s Media Center SheSource Directory. (The Women’s Media Center was founded by Gloria Steinem, Robin Morgan and Jane Fonda to amplify the presence of women in the media.) She has been listed as one of the Best lawyers in America for the past five years and has an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell.
