My professional legal career started in February 2014 by joining the corporate law boutique firm Frotz Riedl Attorneys At Law (FRRA). After passing the bar exam in 2016, I got admitted to Austrian bar in December 2018. I have specialised in advising national and international clients in all areas of corporate law, including mergers & acquisitions, reorganisations, corporate governance and director’s duties as well as banks and insurance companies at the interface of corporate and regulatory law. In addition, I am also handling compliance matters and related liability law issues.
Since I had already developed a strong passion for corporate law during my master studies of law (2006 to 2010) at the University of Vienna, I decided to deepen my knowledge in this area and enrolled for the corresponding doctoral programme at the University of Vienna in 2010. Due to my interest in the interaction and relationship between shareholders, executive bodies, employees and creditors of companies, I chose the rather exotic topic of “Mandatory convertible bonds” for my doctoral thesis, which I successfully defended in 2015.
Based on my legal internship in Argentina in 2011 and my excitement for cross-border work, pursuing a postgraduate degree abroad was a life goal I finally achieved in 2017/2018 when completing the LL.M. in Corporate and Commercial Law at the renowned Queen Mary University London. Having dived deeply into common law doctrines and their interaction with regulatory UK and EU law, my thesis on “Enforcement of malus and clawback provisions” was published in the prestigious English-language journal “Financial Regulation International” in December 2018.
Prior to working for FRRA, I gained experience as a legal assistant for a renowned tax advisor, accountant and court expert in Vienna who focussed on providing expert opinions in insolvency law and white-collar crime matters. This early stage of my career (2011 to 2013) enabled me to look over corporations from a non-legal point of view and helped me to develop an understanding of balance sheets and tax considerations, which turned out highly valuable in my daily life as corporate lawyer.
